Possible twisters in SW Ohio

The National Weather Service reported on its website that two homes were damaged 6 miles north-northeast of Huber Heights and trees and power lines were down on Bellefontaine Road, between U.S. Route 40 and Palmer Road, near the city in Miami County, all the result of suspected twisters. The Columbus Dispatch reports that the National Weather Service is sending a team Thursday to check on conditions after reports of at least three tornado sightings, including a sighting 3 miles northeast of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the Dayton area and another along Route 235 in the New Carlisle and Park Lane communities in Clark County.

Judge: County recorders cannot alter deed restrictions, even if it includes racist language

A federal judge has ruled that Ohio's county recorders cannot remove racist language from old deed restrictions and covenants. In dismissing a lawsuit this month, U.S. District Judge William O. Bertelsman in Cincinnati said the Ohio legislature never gave county recorders the authority to alter documents.

Dorset Road in Troy on Monday, May 8th. Detectives searched a vehicle and a room, finding narcotics, drug paraphernalia, packaging material used in the trafficking of narcotics, digital scales, syringes and cash.

New $1.1M retail building planned for Piqua

A retail building with room for four businesses is under construction in Piqua. Miami County building permits have the Ash Street project listed as a $1.1 million construction project, which just broke ground.
