Ohioan pleads no contest to charges after grandpa's death

An Ohio woman has pleaded no contest to charges including corpse abuse and evidence tampering in connection with the death of her grandfather, whose body was found in a sleeping bag in a Kentucky creek last summer. Twenty-four-year-old Hope Earnshaw-York could face more than nine years in prison at her sentencing, set for June 7. The Tipp City woman entered her pleas Monday in Miami County court in Troy.

Holistic health company to launch new Dayton-area location

A holisitic health business is opening a second center in Troy next month. The founder of Inspira Wellness, in Pleasant Hill, is opening a new Miami County location that will be called Inspira Wellness II, according to a press release.

Hope Earnshaw-York entered a plea of no contest to felony charges in connection with the murder of her grandfather William York Sr. last May. She appeared in court Monday in the Miami County Court of Common Pleas, according to our partners at The Troy Daily News. York was found guilty of felony abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence by Judge Christopher Gee, according to court records.

Dayton-area man accused of selling fatal heroin dose pleads not guilty

A 42-year-old man has pleaded not guilty after he was accused of selling heroin to a man who died of an overdose. Ryan Sheppard, of Piqua, pleaded not guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter and drug trafficking charges in Miami County Common Pleas Court, WHIO reports .

Downed power poles trap Miami County motorists

"Just a little bit more, had I not put my brake on when I did and stop the car, feeling the jerk. That pole would have been on my car and we would have had a whole different story," said Iddings.

Thousands still without power; winds cause severe damage

Crews across the area worked Sunday to restore electricity after Saturday's strong gusts caused trees to fall and power poles to snap. On Experiment Farm Road north of Troy, DP&L crews worked 16 hour shifts to get utility poles upright, after powerful winds pushed them over onto traffic.

Winds cause severe damage in Miami County

A line of utility poles lies across Experiment Farm Road between Farrington and Eldean Road. Piqua firefighters and a Miami County Sheriff's Deputy block Hetzler Road in the 9400 block on Saturday after a part of a tree fell across the roadway.

There is a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Clinton County until 7:00 p.m. Storms could have included winds up to 50 mph and it is advised to that you take shelter indoors and stay away from windows. According to Dayton Power and Light there is over 1,900 report outage without power in Montgomery County area, 320 in Greene County and one in Miami County.
